This strand complement the Art Appreciation and Art Projects units, creating a cohesive Fine Arts experience that deepens with each volume from V1 to V4

Students explore the music of the great Baroque and Classical composers, including: Vivaldi, Handel, Bach, Haydn, Mozart & Beethoven.

The Instrument Focus section introduces students to Baroque and Classical orchestra, as well as instruments of the time helping them understand the sound, function, and historical significance of each instrument.

In addition, V3 Music Appreciation introduces basic music theory concepts such as tempo & dynamics in music, giving them the language to describe the music they hear.

Through listening, discussion, narration, musical charts and guided activities, students develop:

  • ear training & musical awareness

  • Appreciation for historical context and artistic style

  • Connections between music, and other subjects in the Invictus curriculum
